Different Entries to join Indian Army: India has a vast cultural difference but still people love its diversity and that’s the reason citizens of the India believe in unity in diversity. A career in the Indian Armed Forces not only brings respect but also gives a thrilling, adventurous and a challenging life, which will change you forever from inside. Thus, there are different entries to join Indian Army as follows:

How to join Indian Army after 12th

  • National Defence Academy (NDA)

Its an examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to induct young young lads into the forces.

Eligibility: 12th appearing /passed

Age Limit: 16 ½ – 19½ Years

Only male candidates can apply for it & it offers permanent commission (PC) to the candidates after getting commission into the Indian Armed Forces.

Note: Through NDA, one can opt for any of the 3 services based on the final cutoff declared by the UPSC

  • (10+2) Technical Entry Scheme (TES)

It is a Technical Entry Scheme to join Indian Army or Indian Navy as an officer into the technical branches.

Eligibility: 12th passed with min aggregate of 70% marks in physics, chemistry & maths or an equivalent degree with the same.

Age Limit: 16 ½ – 19 ½ Years

Here, you don’t have to give any exam, but there will be a cutoff declared by the Indian Army on its official website. Minimum percent required is 70% in PCM.  After which you will called for the SSB interview. It also grants Permanant Commission (PC).

How to join Indian Army after Graduation

  •  Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE)

This Exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to select deserving candidates to join Indian Military Academy, Indian Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Officers Training Academy.

Eligibility:  For Indian Army: Any Graduate Degree

Age Limit:  IMA, AFA, INA- 20 to 24 years

OTA: 20-25 Years

Both men & women can apply, but women can apply for OTA only.

Only OTA provides short service commission (SSC) after commissioning.

IMA(Direct Entry provides permanant commission to the candidates.

Based on the merit list, you will be allotted the respective services according to your preferences.

Other Entries to join Indian Army

  • UES: University Entry Scheme

As the name suggests, it’s for pre-final year students who are doing B-tech in Mechanical, Electronics, Civil, Computer Science etc

Eligibility: BE/B.Tech from a recognised university in the notified stream as given in the notification.

On selection, you will be granted SSC for a period of 10 years extendable upto 2+2 years.

Before the expiry of your term, you can opt for PC.

Age Limit: 20-27 Years

  1. TGC: technical graduates course, it is for both final year and passed students.

Eligibility: BE/B.Tech from a recognised university in the notified stream as given in the notification.

Age Limit: 20-27 Years

Only male can apply & it grants PC.

  1. SSC (tech) men & SSC (tech) women: It’s also a technical entry and both male and female can apply for it.

Eligibility: BE/B.Tech from a recognised university in the notified stream as given in the notification.

Both final year and passed students can apply for it.

Age Limit: 20-27 Years

  1. NCC Special entry: It is for both men and women.

Eligibility: Degree from a recognised university/Institute (with an aggregate of 50% marks) and should have NCC ’C’ Certificate.

Age Limit: 19 – 25 Years

It grants Short Service Commission (SSC).

  1. JAG entry: It is for law students

Eligibility: Minimum. 55% aggregate marks in LLB degree. Along with this, they should be eligible for registration along with Bar Council of India/State.

Age Limit: 21 – 27 Years

  1. AEC: Its an Army Education Corps.

Eligibility: passed post graduation degree in MA/M.Sc in the subjects as in the notifications/M.COM/MCA with 1st or 2nd division.

Final year students cannot apply for this vacancy

Age Limit: 23-27 Years

It provides  Permanent Commission (PC).
