Ways to join Indian Navy: India is surrounded by various topographies like the Himalayas in the north, green hills in the east, desert and barrens in the west and sea and ocean in the south. Joining Indian Navy is the dream of many young blood of our country. But, Indian Armed Forces doesn’t compromise when it comes to the security of the nation. Here are some of the ways through which one can join Indian navy:

After 12th:

1. NDA & NA Examination :

The NDA entry is open twice a year & conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

Age Limit – 16 ½ to 19½ yrs (at the day commencement of the course)

Eligibility Criteria- 12th Class of 10+2 for Army and with Physics and Maths

Candidate should be unmarried and only male candidates can apply.

2. (10+2) TES/ (10+2) B.tech Cadet Entry :

For High School Science Graduates (12th passed) only and is open twice a year.

Age  Limit – 17 to 19 yrs.

Eligibility Criteria- 10+2 Physics, Chemistry and Maths (aggregate 70% and above can apply) and at least 50% marks in English (either in Class X or Class XII).

Candidate should be unmarried and only male candidates can apply.

Ways to Join Indian Navy After graduation:

  1. University Entry Scheme (UES): university entry scheme, as the name suggests, it’s for pre-final year students only.

Eligibility: BE/B.Tech from a recognized university in the notified stream as given in the notification.

On selection,  Short Service Commission (SSC) will be granted for a period of 10 years extendable up to 2+2 years.

Before the expiry of your term, you can opt for PC.

  1. Short Service Commission (SSC): It invites students to join the Indian navy in executive [Naval Armament Inspectorate Cadre (NAIC)] and technical branch (Naval Architecture)

Eligibility: BE/B.Tech from a recognized university in the notified stream as given in the notification.

Age: 19 ½ – 25 years

Both Male and Female can apply

Both the final year and the passed students can apply for it.

  1. NCC Special entry: It is for both men and women.

Eligibility: B.Sc (physics and maths) with minimum 55 % or BE with minimum

55 % and should have Naval Wing, Senior Division NCC ’C’ Certificate.

Age: 19 – 24 years

It grants Short Service Commission (SSC).

  1. INET: Indian Navy Entrance Test is conducted by Indian Navy recruiting authorities itself. It was started in 2019 to induct more number of officers right after graduation and is almost the same as AFCAT.

Both male and female can apply

Eligibility: BE/B.Tech/MBA/B.Sc/B.COM/MCA/M.Sc

Age: 19 – 24 years

It grants both PC and SSC.
